We went again for our best spot we have so far discovered on Rügen. Every time we went there we had great success there. On the same spot we found the goose on day number 3.

On that day the atmosphere was great. While dense fog lied over the water, we started fishing. The fog was so dense I coudln’t see the fly anymore on a full length cast. Mystic but also dangerous. Our plan to fish the full water area, also a bit far out on the flats. To dangerous with such dense fog. You always have to see the way home. In fact it wasn’t needed to wade much around. The water still higher than usual fishing the shallower flats would have been for sure the key to success. Indeed the pike seemed to be motivated making our day.

Cast after cast, fish after fish. We caught fish, and we lost fish. It was truly memorable fishing. We both will remember it, but for different reasons. For me because I caught a very good amount of fish, Stefan because he lost far more fish than he caught. Every fish I caught, he lost one.

At some point we thought that the day could clear up but the fog was too thick. Sometimes we coudln’t even see each other, which was on that day anyway better, hehehe. Stefan would have been truly de-motivated when watching me catching fish, while he is loosing all of them. Every fish I caught and one he lost his mood dropped. Not only once a fly rod flew out in a high arc out into the sea. hehehe.

As daylight faded we finished with fishing for the last time headed back to the car. Some more cod we bought from the local fisherman that would offer us a piece of good quality fish for dinning at home.
